Robert’s Instagram shows many of the places on my bucket list that I’d like to visit in Oregon. His attention to detail and lighting, both natural and Photoshopped, are phenomenal. A lot of his photos are taken in Forest Park in Oregon, and each one looks dreamy; an example can be seen below. His skills have given him 19.5 thousand Instagram followers!

Where are you from?

“I am from the bay area in California. A smaller city near San Francisco called Alameda. It’s an island, and it always amazes people when I tell them I grew up on an island near San Francisco.”

How would you describe your Instagram/photography?

“I would describe my Instagram as positive and inspirational. I try to inspire others to get out there and do whatever it is they want to do, whether it’s photography or anything else in life. I truly believe you can achieve anything in life if you believe in yourself and stay consistent!”

What is your favorite thing to photograph, and why?

“Nature is my favorite thing to photograph for sure. It’s very calm and peaceful out there, and you can really take your time and just take it all in. When you photograph and chase sunrises/sunsets you need to hurry. In nature, there’s always beauty no matter what time of the day. You will find something amazing!”

What are your tips for photographers and travelers who admire your style?

“Take your time and don’t rush. Try new things with your compositions, duck down, stand on your tippy toes, go left and right and try different angles and see what does and doesn’t work. It takes time and practice but you’ll get there if you want it! Small details like where leaves are placed, angles of trees, etc. all can add life to an image. Pay attention to the lines of your image in Forest Park as it’s a very dynamic place to photograph! I also highly recommend shooting where there are a lot of highlights to be used if you plan to edit in a way that is similar to me. I purposely make sure there are plenty of highlights in the image to be used later in post process for magical lighting in Lightroom/Photoshop.”

I’m grateful that a successful photographer like Robert was available to answer my questions! You can check out Robert’s other photos here, and give him a follow! Many of his photos are available for sale, so if you’re interested, check out this link.
